The Metropolitan Police Department SSBC is a division that supports all kinds of investigations by analyzing security camera footage, conducting data analysis on smartphones and computers, and profiling suspects. Within the SSBC, “SSBC Violent Crimes Unit” is newly established to support the First Investigation Division, which handles serious crimes such as murder, robbery, and arson.
Shuji Igaki, a former First Division detective, was transferred to the SSBC three years ago after causing a problem. Although he feels somewhat dissatisfied with his work in the SSBC Violent Crimes Unit, he is assigned to mentor a “career track” officer seconded from the National Police Agency.
Rintaro Nanami, formerly working at a foreign investment bank, passes the mid-career recruitment exam and joins the National Police Agency. He joins the SSBC Violent Crimes Unit and eventually becomes an excellent partner to Igaki.
